Is participation voluntary?

Is participation confidential?

Yes, participation is confidential. Only the principal investigator, JC Phaneuf, will know who has participated in the study. The Information letter provides further information regarding this question.

What is expected from participants?

Participants are expected to take part in one (1) individual interview. Participants will be asked questions regarding their needs for needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness within a framework of EPAs. The interview is expected to last between forty-five (45) and sixty (60) minutes. It will be scheduled at be scheduled at a date and time convenient for each participant. Can consent to participate be withdrawn?

Yes, consent to participate can be withdrawn at any time during the study, without reason or consequences. The Information letter provides further information regarding this question.

Are there incentives to participate?

No, there are no incentives to participate. However, your answers will help the research team gain understanding of how EPAs can support residents' growth, which may inform areas for improvement regarding implementation of EPAs. The Information letter provides further information regarding this question.

Has ethical approval been obtained?

Yes, the Nederlandse vereniging voor medisch onderwijs' (NVMO) Ethical Review Board has approved the study on December 25, 2021. Furthermore, the study is currently being reviewed by Comités d'éthique de la recherche avec des êtres humains de l'Université Laval (CÉRUL).
